10 steps to reach a civilian and secular state

It’s the cause du jour. People in the streets are chanting for a civil state — الدولة المدنيّة, they’re writing it on banners, demanding it in TV interviews, preaching for it on their social media accounts… they believe it’s the way out of the nightmare we’re currently living. The term itself combines all their aspirations for a modern Lebanon to the point that it converted into a national concept or even a misconception, so I had to write about it.
